Information Security Analyst

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with our Security Operations Center (SOC) to triage security alerts, investigate potential incidents, and escalate as necessary.
  • Provide support during security incidents, including initial analysis, data collection, documentation, and coordination with relevant teams under supervision.
  • Help conduct basic vulnerability scans, analyze results, and support the remediation efforts of identified vulnerabilities in systems and applications within the environment.
  • Audit security training compliance to ensure all staff complete mandatory training.
  • Aid in reviewing and updating security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA) and internal standards. Assist with the creation of new information security policies, procedures, and runbooks.
  • Assist with the review and auditing of user access controls, ensuring adherence to the principle of least privilege.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of security tools such as antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security incidents, investigations, system configurations, and security assessment results. Assist in generating security reports.
  • Conduct basic research on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices to help inform security strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Infrastructure, IT Service Desk, and other departments to integrate security considerations into various projects and operations.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)) are a significant plus.
  • This is an entry level cybersecurity position. However, previous experience in an IT support or system administration is preferred.
  • Experience with security monitoring tools or incident response is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Foundational understanding of information security principles, including network security, endpoint security, data security, and access control.
  • Basic familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls).
  • Awareness of common cyber-attack vectors and vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) security features is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong desire to learn, adapt, and grow rapidly in the field of cybersecurity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move computer hardware and other IT equipment (up to 20 lbs) as needed.
